Mr. Bernard Tan Ah Thau, Cert. of Ed., B. Letters (Hons), M. Ed., M.A. Ind. Psychology
MR. BERNARD TAN is currently the Managing Director of Management Result Consultancy Sdn Bhd. Along with his colleagues, he has developed courses such as Management by Results, Workers' Excellence, Supervisory Excellence, Managerial Excellence, Sales & Marketing Excellence, Strategic Marketing, Strategic Management, Work Excellence Control Circles, Performance Enhancement Skills, Consultancy Skills, Entrepreneurship Skills, How To Become A Star Performer, and Profile Management.
Since then, he has conducted both public and in-house courses. He was also a lecturer at Malaysian Education Staff Training Institute (MESTI) or Institute Pegawai Pendidikan Negara (IPPN) currently known as Institute Aminuddin Baki (IAB). At IAB, he trained education officers ranging from Senior Ministry and Department officers, School Principals and Headmasters to Clerical officers staff of the Educational Ministry. At IAB, he was awarded the World Bank Scholarship to do his Postgraduate, specializing in Human Psychology, Motivation and Human Relations at the Ohio State University, USA.
During his tenure at IAB, several institutions such as Institute Penilaian Negara (INSPEN), Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), South Asia Central Bank (SEACEN) and community leaders of Maldives invited him to conduct courses on Dynamic Leadership, Effective Supervision, Human Relations, Training the Trainers, Counseling and Coaching Skills, Productivity Measurement, Problem-Solving Skills and Decision-Making Skills. Bernard was also a course leader for TAC Management services in 1976 and had conducted courses such as Leadership Dynamics, Interpersonal Skills and Supervision both in Bahasa Malaysia and English. His clientele at TAC Management services include Tasek Cement Bhd, BATA, Genting Highlands Bhd, Cycle & Carriage Bhd, Motorola among others.
Bernard left IAB to work for Bank Negara Malaysia as a Training Specialist. At BNM, his duties and responsibilities encompassed research, course development, development of training materials (writing cases, manuals and papers for training), administration and coordination. Bernard was one of the distinguished speakers of the International Human Resource Conference organized by the Asian Region Training & Development Organization (ARTDO) at Penang, 1994. He had also lectured Organization Behavior for the MBA Programme for Strathclyde Business School and Heriott Watt University.
Bernard has developed KYKO (Know Yourself & Know Others) based on the need theories, a psychological instrument use to help people understand one's self and of the significant others. Unlike other psychometric instruments designed to predict behavior, the special feature about KYKO psychometric instrument is the ability to equip managers with the latest tool, which represents a breakthrough in the technology of managing and influencing people to get things done and make things happen. Based on the psychological tool, Bernard has developed courses such as People Management Skills, Power of Self Change, KYKO for Debt Collection, Customer Service Excellence, Professional Sales Excellence, Flexibility in Work among others. His clientele includes Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Petronas Bhd, Ancom Bhd, Road Builder (M) Holdings Bhd, Nam Fatt Bhd, Toyochem Bhd, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn. Bhd., Matsushita Industrial Corp., OMRON Electronics Sdn. Bhd., Sony Electronics Malaysia, Prai, Federal Paint Factory Sdn. Bhd. among others.
Bernard does not believe in courses that are theoretical & academic. He believes in training, which effects changes in behaviors and skills that brings results to the organization. His courses are practical, down-to-earth, containing current tools and ideas that can be easily implemented once back at the office. His aim is to ensure that delegates take home techniques, tools, concepts, processes & information that will ensure that they achieve greater excellence & success in their professional & personal development. Mr. CHONG CHIEN FATT began his career in 1978 as a Mechanical/Production Engineer at Hume Industries (S) Ltd. In 1979, he joined Schlumberger Technical Service Inc. as a Geophysicists/ Field Engineer. A year later, he became the Marketing & Sales Executive at United Engineers (M) Ltd. before he left to pursue his master degree in Mechanical Engineering in England.
After his graduation, he was appointed as a Management Consultant at SGV-Kassim Chan Sdn Bhd. In 1986, he became a General Manager at Power Steel & Electroplating Works Sdn. Bhd. Three (3) years later, he work his way up to became the CEO of several subsidiaries at a KLSE Main Board Public Listed Company and finally landed up as a Group Consultant.
He has substantial managerial experiences and has real life experiences of solving problems, turning around companies and bringing various companies to higher level of growth and achievement. Among the courses that he has conducted are Quest for Excellence, The Power of Self Change, People Management Skills, Essential Managerial Skills, Professional Selling & Negotiation Skills, Problem-Solving and Decision-Making and Profile Management.
He does not believe in imparting theoretical concepts and prefers to share his real life experiences leading the participants through the processes of managerial skills to ensure positive transfer of training. Dr. Ching Tow Fah, B.Sc, MBA, FQSA, CQMC, CMC
Dr. Ching is a practitioner, trainer and consultant, specializing in design and implementation of turnkey Total Quality Management (TQM) and the application of TQM concepts in enhancing business competitiveness.
Dr. Ching serves clients in Malaysia, Singapore and Australia
in both private and public sectors of size ranging from 8 to 3,000 employees.
His work has benefited a wide variety of industries, including health
care, education, manufacturing, public service, electronic, refinery,
and others. Among his current clients are operations in: flour and oil
mills, LCD electronics, garments, home appliances, door knobs, correction
fluids, agriculture chemicals and stainless steels An advocate and active teacher, Dr. Ching has developed, taught and coordinated in-house programs, seminars and public workshops on Concurrent Operation, Continuous Improvement, and related fields. He is also a regular presenter in many international conferences held in Malaysia, Australia and the Pacific region. He was lecturer at the Edith Cowan University, and Curtin University and is now a regular guest lecturer at the Graduate School of Management, University of Western Australia.
A Certified Management Consultant, Dr. Ching belongs to the Institute of Management Consultants, Australia (IMCA). He was a registered quality expert with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and a licensed TQM consultant by the Department of Commerce and Trade, Western Australia. As a Fellow, he sits in the national committee of the Quality Society of Australasian certifying quality professionals to be consultants.
Dr. Ching graduated with B.Sc in Pharmacology from the Melbourne University, Australia, and MBAs (with distinction) from the International Management Center of Buckingham, U.K. and the Open University, Canada. He earned his Ph. D from the Atlantic International University, Florida, U.S, Kuala Lumpur Center, Malaysia. Mr Sim began his career at Motorola Kuala Lumpur (KLM) and has worked for 24 years in various positions with more than 14 years in Managerial and Senior Managerial roles. Last position held in KLM was as a Senior Business Planning Manager. His expertise encompasses providing hands-on leadership and direction to the various supporting groups within the organization especially product engineering, equipment engineering, process engineering and manufacturing to provide the right products to the right customer at the right time. He is also adept in price negotiations with subcontractors and equipment vendors linked to capacity planning and ramp-up. Mr. Sim is noted for his outstanding business communications skills, both oral and written especially in the frequent dealings with peers, Master Planners and Customer Service Advocates in Singapore, USA, HongKong, Japan and Europe.
With positive attitude and strong self motivation, Mr. Sim has always worked well with direct reports and top management. While very result-oriented and advocate to "thinking out of the box "for Individual and Performance Enhancement, Mr. Sim is very particular about teamwork and team synergy to achieve beyond the goals set forth. Over the years Mr. Sim have proven to have the ability to identify and tap the potentials of subordinates for the organization's long-term growth. He believes that the company's future depends on the forward looking and resourceful employees. Last but not least, he is especially supportive of creativity in bringing in new ideas and innovation, in the implementation of new ideas.
In 2001, Mr Sim left KLM to work at ST Assembly and Test Services Ltd (STATS), Singapore as the Director of IE (Industrial Engineering) Department with key focus on Capital Expense (CapEx), Capital Equipment Management, Capacity Planning, Global Equipment Deployment and Productivity, Cycle Time & Cost Enhancement Projects with Assembly, Test and Support operations. Currently, the company is called StatsChippac before he left to become a consultant in 2002.
Since then, Mr Sim have provided Management Skills Training to ST MicroElectronics, Muar, Malaysia and KESM Malaysia. He has also provided consultancy services to a set of students in National University of Singapore. The Management Skills Training place focus more on people development through Effective Communications, Teambuilding, Systematic Problem Management, and Leadership. Mr. Sim's passion is in developing people so that they too can attain greater heights of success in their respective career. |
